One Cab goes south; Three People and a Container Store purchase go North.
This represents the first picture in the "People of New York" Photo-journal.

The woman has stopped at the car, presumably to get in.
The woman looks at the car as if she is preparing to enter.
After this shot, the woman began smoking a cigarette.
After a smoke, the woman has walked away to the south. Another woman heads north
After her smoke, she heads back South. What I find interesting is that she first went North, stopped at this car, smoked, then went back from whence she came.

At this point, the white car in the background begins pulling out of its parking spot. Two pictures later, it is gone.

The spot formerly taken by the white car has now been occupied by a black SUV. It took a total of 1 minute and 49 seconds to fill the spot.

Upon taking this picture, I did not, through the viewfinder, zoomed in, realize who this man was. It wasn't until a few pictures later that I realized he was a policeman. This makes for a funny few pictures.

In fact, my first thought was that the man owned the car and saw something on his windshield.

Eventually, I thought that he was simply looking for his keys.

At this point, 23 seconds after I first spotted the man, I realized who he was, and what he was doing, as I caught a glimpse of his "little white book"

This picture clearly shows the process of the policeman writing a ticket. The reason, I soon remembered, is that the area in front of this building (155 5th Ave) is a no-parking zone.

Interestingly enough, the parking spot that was once vacant becomes vacant again, beginning in this picture, as the SUV leaves the spot.

The SUV across the way is still in this picture, in the same position as the previous picture, due to the fact that it is stopped behind another car, awaiting a light change

At this point, the background parking space is empty, but this is not true for the next picture.

This time, it took only 37 seconds for the parking space to again be filled, this time by another white car.

This is the end of "People of New York." A few interesting facts: The cars in the background other than the one directly across from the building did not move during these photos. However, the parking spot between them switched hands twice. The driver of the red car was never seen, although at least two people were mistaken for that role.
